The Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) provides small amounts of entry-level support to assist older people aged 65 years and over (50 years and over for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people) to remain living at home and in their community. Kalano’s CHSP team is made up of a fully Indigenous workforce that provides the services of domestic assistance, transport, meals and personal care to clients in the Katherine region. CHSP services may be short-term, intermittent or ongoing. The program places a strong focus on activities that support independence and social connectedness and take into account each person’s individual goals and choices.
